OVERVIEW

Solo UX / UI Designer / Branding
Product designed for a Brazilian company, hence the use of Portuguese in the UI.
Problem Statement
The client needed a way to improve customer service for her Dental Clinic (Bellon & Pimentel Odontologia).

Main Objectives :

- Categorize target customers;
- Identify main pain points;
- Eliminate the need for an intermediary person (in this case, the receptionist having to do all the work).
Solution
An application to do all the work between the patient and the schedule, removing the need for a receptionist, since the patient flow is too much to handle.
1 - EMPATHIZE
Defining the problem
Starting the project, the client and I had a conversation about data she had and what she had witnessed.
HYPOTHESIS—
-
Insatisfaction with the service due to long waiting periods;
-
Patients between 18 to 55 are more adept at using the internet;
-
Some elderly patients use technology, but the majority don't.
From that starting point, I was able to work on the first research focused solely on the users, where I organized the main points to be taken into consideration.

2 - DEFINE
SURVEYS
Based on the initial research and surveys, I was able to deepen my understanding of the clientele and build the project on top of it, focusing on the best user experience.

Most insights proved what I already knew to be right, but offered some more knowledge on the users technical skills and interest in the offered solution.

BENCHMARKING
For a deeper understanding of the public, common frameworks, and ways of user flow.

MAIN RESEARCH
Demographic data and references for the consolidation of target users and the improvement of my ideas, based on user experience.

Pain Points
- Difficulty learning new things
- No online experiences
"I'm not used to technology, but everything needs it these days. I love planting and tending to my flower shop, but I want to be able to schedule my own appointments."

Goals

- Fast results + customer retention
Pain Points
- No experience with apps
- You don't have time to manage your own schedule
- Very focused only on the dental side of the business and not the administration
"I don't have the income to hire a receptionist right now, and patients end up waiting a long time to be seen. I want to be able to provide the best possible treatment, so I study a lot about new dental techniques in my free time."

4 - PROTOTYPING
INITIAL WIREFRAMES

Some additional details and initial color scheme for testing purposes.
After some feedback, I went into the second color scheme, making sure to check the contrast with STARK.

The final color scheme ends up remaining mostly faithful to this.

5- USER TESTING
Using the low-fi prototype, I was able to test the usability and the user flow, gaining valuable feedback that was implemented next.

- Difficulty with scheduling and understanding the icons;
- Return button was too small to click on;
- Iconography should be improved drastically.

6-CONCLUSION
With all the design process steps completed, I was able to deliver the final version of the project.
WHAT I LEARNED
Finishing this project taught me many things. I was able to improve my research skills and refresh my knowledge on designing.
Designing an app for a broader target (age-wise) is more challenging than I thought it would be.
I had to redesign certain aspects in terms of accessibility, with more recognizable icons, bigger buttons, and color contrast.

TYPOGRAPHY & ICONOGRAPHY
Simple sans serif font for a better reading experience, taking into account the different types of users.

Iconography is different from the first version, having taken the feedback from the user testing and improving upon it.

COLOR SCHEME
Simple colors, using the 60/30/10 method for better harmonization and balance.
